RS Line (Relative Strength Line)
A chart of the stock's price divided by a benchmark — rising RS line means the stock is outperforming the index.
The RS line plots a stock's price performance relative to a benchmark index (typically Nifty 500 or the sector index). When the RS line makes a new high, the stock is outperforming the benchmark even if its absolute price is below its own 52-week high.
Why swing traders watch it
William O'Neil and later Minervini-style traders treat RS line leadership as a leading indicator: stocks whose RS line turns up before price often become the next market leaders. A stock near its price high but with a flat RS line is often lagging the broad market.
How Swing Edge uses it
Research snapshots flag rs_line_at_high when the RS line is at a recent peak. The RS Line Leaders hub and high-RS filters use this to separate genuine leaders from names that only rose because the whole market rose.
